Walking Into Flowers — Gouache Painter Tiffany Chen's Non-Typical Solo Exhibition Full of Vivid Spirit

The world of gouache painting is filled with splendor and color, inspiring longing and anticipation. Renowned gouache painter Tiffany Chen employs non-typical creative methods to imbue the world of gouache painting with rich connotations and innovative artistic conceptions, opening new horizons for viewers. Having recently graduated from Culture University's Fine Arts Graduate Program, Chen chose this moment to present "Flower Manifestation" — a solo exhibition of non-typical gouache paintings featuring 20 of her latest works that display the vibrant vitality of flowers, drawing considerable attention.
Drawing on her accumulated life experience, Chen incorporates flowers from daily life into a series of gouache works under the theme "Flower Manifestation." Through emotional projection, she listens to nature's breathing, quietly observing flowers swaying gracefully in the wind. With a sensory perspective, she simplifies brushwork to express the effect of inner imagery, and has made experimental reforms in materials and techniques. Departing from the traditional approach of applying layer upon layer of color, she transforms the conservative and habitual coloring style to express texture through the variation of color density, presenting a particularly dazzling and colorful effect with beautiful and realistic compositions that truly catch the eye.
Gouache painting originated from Eastern painting, and in Tiffany Chen's hands, it is filled with local Taiwanese flavor, allowing viewers to appreciate her unique charm and modernity in gouache painting. Among the exhibited works, one piece uses a steel-material gouache creation technique — to complement the nurturing of artistic conception, Chen ingeniously used a palette knife on the steel canvas to scrape away excess paint, maintaining the exclusivity and distinctly clean, bright floral composition of the work. This new creative attempt became the focal point of the exhibition.
Chen believes that flowers are the pinnacle expression of plant vitality. Whether it be the vivid peony, the pure lotus, or the charming rose — all can touch the heart. Flowers are an important element in the creative process, leading her to walk among flowers and discover something entirely new. "Flower Manifestation" — Tiffany Chen's Non-Typical Gouache Painting Solo Exhibition runs through June 9th at Culture University's Huagang Museum.
